About Luigi

(DOB 12/03/2022). Due to Luigi's young age, he has not yet been neutered. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC). Meet the Super Mario Bros gang! The foster family are video game fanatics and aptly named them after their favorite Nintendo characters. 'Little' Luigi is just a happy go lucky kid. He does tend to be the snugglest of the boys. He also loves his older (3.5 yrs) furry sibling, and he's Luigi's bestie. He is always excited to play with his litter mates and will need to be adopted into a family with at least one playful and loving furry sibling to play and learn from. Luigi will want a home with a fence so he and his family can run around and play. Children are fine but should be 8+ years so little Luigi won't accidently knock them down and/or use them as one of his chew toys. Speaking of toys, he loves playing with toys, so make sure to have a good variety to mix and match during play time. His momma is a Plott Hound, and these boys are looking like they will be big dogs so make sure you have a plan for positive reinforcement training you can do each and every day to build basic skills like SIT, DOWN, WAIT, PLACE, LOOK and of course, loose leash walking. No one wants a big dog with bad manners. Pulling, lunging, jumping or not sitting down nicely when asked is not something his loving and caring family will want Luigi doing when he 70+lbs with other dogs or people. Luigi is a smart and sensitive guy and ready to show you how quickly he can catch on when you make learning fun! Taking puppies out and about is great socialization just remember they are young and learning about motion in a car so may get car sick until he gets used to it. He is very young and not yet crate or potty trained. His new family will need to commit to working on these just like the above training. Someone at home the majority of the time will be needed to be able let him out for regular potty breaks and build consistency and routine. As part of Luigi's $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. At the time of adoption, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.
