About Porcelain

Introducing PORCELAIN! STATS: 8 year old tiny Pom LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard, another small dog, love and patience. HIGHLIGHTS: Beautiful and sweet little girl! Porcelain is an 8 year old, 5.1 pound Pomeranian we surrendered to us along with 11 other Pomeranians. She is a beautiful girl with a pretty coat and beautiful eyes too! Like most of the surrendered Poms, Porcelain is not very socialized but she's really done very well adjusting to her foster home. She came in very scared and she's come out of her shell quickly. She has been sitting by her foster mom and following her around and exploring her home. Porcelain is a very sweet girl but she has no idea what personal space is and gets in the middle of the dogs in her foster home without even thinking if they're eating or otherwise occupied. Fortunately they don't seem to mind too much! She does get along well with other little dogs and definitely needs to go to a home with another small dog in it. She follows dogs and is comfortable with a dog quicker than she is with a person. She should not go to a home with little kids and has not been tested with cats. Porcelain has no idea what it's like to be a pet and doesn't understand what is and isn't appropriate! She will get up on her foster mom and try to eat off her plate. We are working on some house manners and she seems very smart so she will learn! She doesn't know what a dog bed is but quickly took to sleeping on the big bed. Porcelain is not potty trained but we're working on it. She knows what to do when she goes outside, but does have accidents in the house. She's not used to living in a home as pet and it's going to take some time and patience from her new owner. Something else she is not used to, grass! At first Porcelain was hesitant to go outside and wouldn't even put her feet on that green stuff, but now she'll go out with the other dogs in her foster home. She still usually stays on the concrete patio unless she is picked up and put on the grass, but she doesn't seem afraid of it anymore. She is not leash trained and absolutely needs a home with a secure fenced yard. Porcelain is slightly underweight and eats very little, probably due to her bad teeth. This poor girl definitely needs a dental and we have one scheduled for her. Our vet says that her teeth are very infected and they will probably have to remove them all. Porcelain has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, has been fecal tested, is heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Her spay and dental are scheduled soon at one of our vets and are covered by the rescue. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
