Meet Itty Bitty! STATS: 8 year old Toy Fox Terrier LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: A loving home. HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet and friendly, perfect companion dog! Itty Bitty is an 8 year old, 12.6 pound Toy Fox Terrier who came to us because her owner has dementia and is no longer able to keep her. Itty Bitty is a very sweet little dog, but she has had a lot of changes in her life, and may take a minute to warm up to a new person. That said, she loves people, likes to snuggle, and is affectionate with her person. Itty Bitty likes to sit or lie next to someone, but isn't necessarily a lap dog. She will give kisses and enjoys pets and attention. She will jump off the couch to follow her foster mom around the house and is always happy and excited to see her foster mom return from an errand. She picks up routines easily and will probably adapt fairly quickly to a new home. Itty Bitty is good with small dogs and puppies, but is afraid of large dogs. She was in a home with several other small dogs and would be happy with another small dog in her home. She would probably also be okay as an only dog as long as she didn't spent too much time alone. Younger kids would probably make her nervous but older kids (12 and up) would likely be okay. We have not had her around cats so we don't know how she would be with them. She would probably prefer a quieter home. She is fairly quiet and usually only barks when the other dogs bark. Itty Bitty walks well on a leash and enjoys walks. She does have a habit of weaving back and forth from side to side though and could be a trip hazard during walks for someone with balance issues easily. She also enjoys exploring her yard. She is not fully housebroken but her foster mom is working with her on this. At night she likes to sleep snuggled with her foster mom in the big people bed. Itty Bitty has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She does need a dental and that will be scheduled at one of our vets and is covered by the rescue. Applicants should live within a 1-2 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
