Appealing to rescuers to save JAYLA from the unspeakably cruel New York City pound that was threatening to kill the innocent dog they themselves described as 'sensitive and shy,' an advocate wrote as follows: 'Her parent decided to do a bit of travelling and left JAYLA with a neighbor. That was months ago. The neighbor (and Jayla) waited but Jayla's parent never returned. She looked up at the only person she now had left in the world, begging with her eyes for this neighbor to keep her and give her a home. But the neighbor said she couldn't. She was suffering financial hardship and Jayla was a burden she couldn't bear. Now poor Jayla is at the [city pound], trying to figure out what it was that ever made her so unlovable that no one wanted to keep her safe and loved. Nervous with new friends, she is a very devoted one once she gets to know you and that takes only minutes. Her parent even said that her favorite thing about Jayla are all the kisses she gives. Affectionate and loving, friendly and outgoing with strangers, gentle and kind to children, she doesn't even seem bothered by other dogs. It's rather heartbreaking, her being in the middle of her life Jayla just wants a permanent place to hang her collar and leash, a place of love and stability, a place where she can finally say, 'I matter to someone.' Will you take this sweet girl in?' In response to this appeal and others, a rescue group saved gentle JAYLA from certain death, but they cannot give her the life she deserves without a forever family and a home of her own to go to. JAYLA would thrive in any loving home with kids, other dogs and probably even cats too, especially if that home had a large fenced yard where she could run and play as she loves to do!
