Pit Bull mix

An advocate for BEAR wrote an impassioned appeal to save the gentle giant who was sentenced to death for no reason at the despicable New York City kill pound: 'We don't care HOW much you love your family members,' argued the advocate, 'when a full grown adult says they plan to move into your house and say that you need to get rid of your dog for them to do so, you better tell them the dog stays and they better pull themselves up by the bootstraps and deal with it. This is the ONLY reason that poor Bear is at the [city pound], and it's because an elderly person said, 'I'm afraid of all dogs' and so Bear drew the short straw. It's not as if he is in any way, shape or form aggressive. In fact, his parents went on and on about how sweet he is with everyone. 'Gentle' they said, 'outgoing' they said, 'friendly' they said. They let the [pound] know he was the nanny dog to their three grandchildren who ranged in age from 1 through 7. He had NO bad habits, in fact, his resume was superb. He shared all his stuff with a happy smile. He loved spa days when he could enjoy a bath, get his nails trimmed and be brushed. Perfectly housetrained, he was always a good scout when left home alone. There is NOTHING wrong with Bear other than his family never deserved such a devoted and loyal friend. And now he is sitting in his kennel, searching every face for the people who left him to die, lonely and confused.' A rescue group heard the appeal and saved the life of the gentle giant, but they cannot save him from his sadness or give him the life he deserves without a forever family and a home of his own to go to. BEAR would be happiest in a home with a large yard for him to run and play like he once loved to do.
