About Cooper

Adoption Fee: $100
Boxer / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I snagged this guy out of a bad situation a couple weeks ago. He was emaciated and terrified. I had him to the vet where he was given a well check. He was filled with tapeworms but tested negative for heartworm. He got his vaccinations and all the preventative as well as a med to get rid of the tapeworms. He was neutered a week ago. He now has a clean bill of health. Cooper should not be in a home with young children. His background is somewhat unknown. He has been wonderful with me. From putting him in my car to every day living he does great. He's good in his kennel after he learns it is his safe place and where he gets fed. The first two days were hard but now he's great in the kennel. He has fear agression that is going to take patience and confidence building. Prior to his neuter i had seen not one hint of agression. He was fine with the vet, vet tech, and me. He did great when i took him to the pet store for a bath. He was leary of people but no growling, just backed away if anyone reached for him. When I left him for the neuter he went with the tech fine walked right back with her. But then they shoved him in a kennel near a bunch of barking dogs and he got scared and when they approached the kennel he will growl and then tried nipping at the vet when she was relying to get him out to take him back. And whatever happened there traumatized him. When I went back with him to the Humane Society he growled at every person and then he also growled when I had a female friend over even when she ignored him. He does fine with my dogs. I have two large breed males one older and one younger. And I have two crabby female chihuahuas. They all do fine. I have not seen him be aggressive towards my dogs but I was told he will get aggressive if another dog tries to dominate him too much. But I have a hard time with believing that because if my big guy even acts a little dominant Cooper runs to his kennel or to me. Cooper needs a clean slate with someone who has the time and patience and knowledge to be able to invest in him. I was told he is just over 2 years old and he is the sweetest cuddle bug when he's just at home with me. He must have a securely fenced in yard.
