About Elinor

Adoption Fee: $200
Maltese / Poodle
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Little Elinor was abandoned near a local shelter in a urine soaked diaper. She was in critical condition and was not expected to make it. She suffered from a slew of medical conditions, most of them caused by a rotten mouth with most of her teeth abscessed, and a nasty UTI, and also emaciated. We were able to get Elinor back to health. Unfortunately she lost most of her teeth besides the 4 canines during her dental. That doesn't hinder her from 'skinning' and 'defluffing' her lamb chop toys. :-) Elinor was noted to be 13 years old by the intake vet at the shelter. But once she got healthy again she appears so much younger. We suspect her to be more like 9 years old. She was only around 7 lbs when found but is now at a healthy weight at 11lbs. She is a Maltese and Poodle mix who will require regular grooming. Elinor is very playful with her squeaky toys and likes to play tug-of-war, and fetching them for you so you can toss them again. This little girl loves going for walks and car rides, and of course cuddling with her humans. We can see her enjoying life with a retired couple who enjoy RVing. She travels well and loves to watch the traffic and the scenery. Elinor currently lives with other dogs at her foster home that range from a 5-lb Yorkie to a 70-lb Shepherd. She doesn't mind them but prefers to stay to herself. We think she would be fine with other small dogs or being an only dog who can be spoiled rotten. Elinor is house-trained but being a senior, she should be let out every 3 hours or so. She shouldn't be kept inside a crate to avoid having her legs get stiff. She has an old injury on her rear right leg that stiffens up sometimes after a long nap. She is on joint supplements to help with that. Elinor does well being left out when her family leaves the home for short periods. Little Elinor is a darling little love bug and would love to find her own family where she can be treated like a little princess. She doesn't mind getting dressed up and strut her stuff. She can be a little fashionista! If you are interested in the little firecracker, please send am email for more information or request an application at [email protected]
