About ROCKY AND CARLY

Adoption Fee: $700
Yorkie

Meet CARLY and ROCKY! STATS: Bonded Yorkies LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Must be adopted together, fenced yard. Carly and Rocky are a beautiful bonded pair of champagne colored Yorkies. Carly is 6 years old and weighs 12.6 pounds. Rocky is 8 years old and weighs 9.46 pounds. Their owner was no longer able to take care of them so she contacted us to see if we could take them. They are sweet dogs and we were happy to help! We will not be separating them, they are only adoptable as a pair. Carly and Rocky were a bit timid and unsure of the change in their living situation when they came in, but they have both really come out of their shells in the past few days! Neither of them are lap dogs, but they will come to their foster mom periodically throughout the day for scratches and cuddles, and to give kisses - Carly more so than Rocky! If either one comes for cuddles, the other will immediately demand attention so as to not be left out. Oddly, Rocky seems to be afraid of being reached for with two hands, and will cry and run away. He prefers to have only one hand reach out to pet or scratch him. Carly is a talker! She makes a sort of grunt/bark sound when she wants attention. She seems to love men and she was in heaven on Christmas when there was a male visitor to her foster home who picked her up. She rolled over on her back and let him hold her like a baby, while talking to him and reaching her head up to give him kisses. So cute! Rocky loves playing with squeaky toys, and will sometimes bring one to his foster mom to throw so he can chase it. Both are pretty well house broken. Carly will walk to the door when she needs to go out, and Rocky will follow her. Rocky has done no marking since his first day. His foster mom keeps a potty pad down and one or the other will use it occasionally. They do ok on the leash, but prefer exploring the backyard on their own and we would prefer that they have a fenced yard. They are good car riders. Both were indifferent to visiting big dogs, but have tried to be friends with their older Pomeranian foster sister. They bark like crazy at the neighborhood cat, who walks by the windows, and at anyone in the yard or at the door. We have not had them around kids. Based on Rocky's sometimes timid behavior being reached for (with two hands, not one) a home with little kids is not recommended, but they were great with a teenager (she got lots of kisses)! When they hear 'bed time' they both race upstairs to the bedroom. Rocky will jump on the bed, and Carly will wait to be picked up. Rocky usually sleeps there on a dog bed at the foot of the bed and Carly alternates between snuggling up with her foster mom, and getting in the dog bed with Rocky. Both dogs have been to the vet for a wellness check, are up to date on shots, spayed/neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, have had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and are microchipped with a lifetime registration. They do have badly needed dental cleanings scheduled at our vet in mid January. The dentals are covered by the rescue, all their adopter needs to do is get them to the appointment! Because they have pending vet appointments they are local adoption only.
