Roo Terrier/Australian Shepherd mix Female 5 yrs old 46 lbs. Hey there, my name is Roo! I'm an adorable, incredibly affectionate gal who will bring so much happiness to a forever home of my very own! I adore everyone I meet, especially kids! And while I do need a special family who is comfortable taking care of my skin allergies with quite a bit of medication and special food, I just know there is a family out there who is meant to be mine! I'm the sweetest girl with a loving, silly, curious personality, and I love to cuddle. Despite having a lot of change in my life recently, I am confident and always happy. I love all humans I meet immediately and would love any type of family, but especially one with kids. I get soooooo excited anytime I meet a kid and would love one (or more!) to snuggle with. I live with a small dog in my foster home and we get along great. I also get along with bigger dogs and like to play with them if they match my energy, but extremely high energy dogs are not always my favorite. I also love cats and kittens! And since I love humans most of all, I'd do perfectly fine as the solo dog in my forever home as well. I love walks and hikes (even long, hard hikes!). I wasn't on a leash much in my original home, so my foster mom has been teaching me some leash skills. I can get quite overly excited when I see dogs outside on a leash or off the balcony (or when I hear people outside but can't get to them to go say hi), so I would like an adopter who will continue with my training and use a harness (positive reinforcement techniques only, please!). I am already making good progress and have also learned a few other basic commands! But because of this, apartment living isn't for me. I am fairly mellow in the house but also like to play with toys and do zoomies a couple of times a day, so I would love a yard to run around in and/or someone who can take me for longer walks regularly. Back to that skin allergy stuff I have chronic skin allergies that were left untreated for a long time so my skin was in really rough shape (really ouchy skin and lots of hair loss) when I first came to PawsCo. But thanks to an amazing vet team and my foster mom, I am finally on the right combination of prescription food and medications and am feeling great these days! I have really cute tufts of hair starting to grow back where I lost it. The vet thinks I will have all my fur back in the next 3-6 months, so I just need my adopters to keep up with my current regimen and make sure I don't get any other food other than my prescription food (human food included!). I get weekly medicated baths (which I do great for, and get cute zoomies after!), monthly injections at the vet (which I'm hoping I can wean off of in a few months), and daily medications. I also need some eye drops for dry eyes as well. All in all'|.my medical situation is a bit pricey right now with the total medication and food at $340 a month. But my vet feels confident that in a few months, that the total cost could decrease to $250 a month once we can take off some of the meds and change to a more cost effective food. Again, I know it will take a special family to feel comfortable taking on my medical cost but I assure you I am worth every bit of it if you have the means to support me.
