Meet JOY! STATS: 9 year old Shih Tzu mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: An owner who will spend a lot of time holding her and loving on her. HIGHLIGHTS: Very sweet gentle little girl. Sweet little Joy came to us as an owner surrender. We found out that the owner hadn't really had her that long and we don't know much about her history. Joy is 9 years old, 7.12 pound Shih Tzu mix. She was very matted, down to the skin, when she came in so she had to be shaved. She has the softest fur and you won't be able to help petting her, which is exactly what she wants. Joy is a gentle soul who deeply wants with to be held and loved. She has periods of soft crying which leads us to believe that her original owner may have passed away and she is looking for someone to love her and heal her broken heart. Joy likes to snuggle and sit with you in a chair. She is not going to be the kind of dog who wants to be left alone a lot, and she would be perfect for a retired or stay at home couple looking for a sweet lap dog. At night she sleeps at the bottom of the big bed or in an easy chair in the bedroom. Joy can be a little shy around the other dogs at first, but she is not the least bit aggressive. She has not been tested with kids or cats but we believe she would be fine with either, although since she has not been around kids and we would prefer older children who are familiar with small dogs. Joy knows how to walk on a leash and when you take her outside she goes potty. She rides well in the car and is always ready to go with you. She is a delightful little companion to take anywhere! Joy has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
