About Simba

OWNER PASSED AWAY in N CAL, SIMBA in San Jose, 8.5 years old, needs a chow savvy adult only home Simba's owner sadly recently passed away, and he was given to his long time groomer who cannot keep him due to her landlord. The groomer then placed him in a temporary home who is unable to keep him either, so we need suitable placement asap or he may be euthanized. The groomer previously wanted a very local home, but none has been found, so they have finally agreed to find home a good home wherever that may be (so long as the person is chow savvy, responsible and able to come in person to adopt or is backed by a reputable rescue group willing to be involved). Simba was clearly well loved and cared for by his previous owner who had him since a puppy. This handsome boy is now just over 8.5 years old. The groomer has known and groomed Simba since he was a puppy too and also cared for him over the years. She said he is sweet with people, but will give a warning growl if he's uncomfortable as many chows do. Simba has done fine with the other dogs (two labs) in the temporary place but he is recommended ideally as an only dog. Being a chow, he at times prefers to be left alone, so it is best he go to an adult only home, and ideally as an only dog, although he also lived with a female chow before and was okay. Most importantly, we are looking for a home or rescue that is well experienced with chows and owned them. We were told Simba is an AKC chow (but do not have the papers), is up to date on vaccinations and is being neutered on 12/19. If you do have another dog, a meet and greet with any dog is requested and recommended as he may be dog selective. Please note he does not do well with cats. Simba is said to be potty trained and has no reported medical issues,.
