Come meet Tarkin on Saturday, January 28th at the East County Animal Shelter. Natalie Meyers - his favorite dog handler and a professional dog Walker will be there giving tips and tricks and show you just how special Tarkin is once he is out of his kennel. Tarkin is a dog who sees the glass as half full. He doesn't realize how long he's been in the shelter, but he is always happy and smiling. He is a medium-sized dog with a gorgeous fur coat. He is approximately 4 years old and weighs 40 pounds. Tarkin is overlooked by visitors because he jumps up and barks when people pass by his cage. The volunteers who take him out know his true colors. He's just an active, high-energy dog who enjoys the outdoors. Once he is out of his cage and into a yard (which he loves) he runs at full speed with joy and, of course, with his trademark smile. Tarkin is affectionate, walks well on leash and likes playing with toys and catching balls. While he will need an experienced dog owner, Tarkin has been making fantastic progress working with a dog handler. He is a very fast learner and knows the commands 'sit'' and 'stay'' and will come with 3 private sessions with this handler who knows Tarkin very well. Tarkin would prefer a home with a fenced in yard where he can be the only dog. Because of his extreme enthusiasm he should go to a home without small children.
