About Oso

Will likely be added to euth list soon (the shelter if more than full)- Please help us find a chow savvy home, foster (or foster to adopt) and rescue for poor Oso, a young chow who is only about 1 year old and weighs 49 lbs right now. He was found chained to a post and brought in by officers and put on a protection hold due to the circumstances he was found in sadly. We don't know the details what he has been through but he is scared as many chow get in a shelter environment, was understandably growling on intake, and they have placed him on meds for stress. His behavior notes state, once leashed and out of kennel he seeked safety by leaning against the handler and was cowering away from neighbor dogs barking at him. In the catch pen he had a looe body with a high tail and appropriately tolerated the other dogs through the fence. after he realized the handler ws trying to put a collar on him, he started hard staring and growling. Once in the yard he kept to himself but was tolerant of the other dogs. When handler was trying t get his leash t exit him from the yard he started hard staring and growling again.'. Oso cannot be adopted directly at this time. He will have a second assessment but may be Rescue only, meaning he can only be pulled by a rescue group.
