How lovely is this girl! Lucy is around a year old and weighs 19 lbs. For a pup so young, she has already mastered many of the basic 'good-dog' skills. Lucy is house-trained and trustworthy when left alone in the house-she doesn't bark or chew on things. She is not food aggressive, waits patiently while her dinner is being prepared, and does not pester or beg when her humans are eating. Lucy enjoys long walks in the neighborhood and is doing well with her leash training, learning not to pull. While on a walk, she will pass other dogs and people without barking. She does seem shy and timid if other dogs approach her. She also enjoys being off leash in her backyard, where she is quick to chase the squirrels and birds. Her recall is reliable, and she doesn't really like being outside unless someone is with her. Lucy prefers to stick close to her humans! She is a loving, affectionate lap dog, who loves belly rubs--truly a sweet girl who is eager to please! She loves to shake, tug, and chew her stuffed squeaky toys but has no real interest in chasing balls or sticks. She is an excellent guard dog, who sounds the alarm but needs to work on knowing when it's OK to relax and stop barking. At some time in her brief past, Lucy may have had a bad experience with kids, and she has never forgotten it. She is very reactive and defensive towards them, possibly a risk to their safety. She needs an adults-only home where children are not regular visitors. Really, Lucy just wants to be with her own special people and will do best in a quiet home where she will receive lots of attention, playtime, and cuddles.
