Meet Payne, a remarkably handsome and friendly boy originally hailing from Georgia. Adopted at 6 months old, he unexpectedly found himself without a family at the age of 2. Payne's adoption occurred during the COVID period when everyone was staying home. Sadly, his momma, citing a lack of time, returned him to the shelter rather than back to his rescue. Payne had previously been in the shelter at 6 months old after his initial owner went to jail, and the situation was perplexing for him. When we received the call to pick him up, Payne was very anxious. Within 30 minutes into our drive, he began giving kisses and seeking comfort by placing his paw on my arm. I had to reassure him that he was okay. By the time we reached our destination, he transformed into a wagging, affectionate lap dog. Payne is in need of a loving home where he will be cherished as a true family member, ensuring he won't face abandonment for the third time or be returned to a shelter. Unfortunately, he wasn't vetted as required by his contract and promise from his adopter for the past two years, receiving only the initial care from his rescue. Now, Payne's vaccines are up to date, and he is scheduled for neutering, with a microchip in place. Dog-friendly and people-friendly, Payne has the potential to be an amazing addition to any family. However, he is strong and tends to pull during walks, so we recommend an active family capable of handling his strength, characteristic of his bully breed background.
