About Sugar

Sugar is an adorable 8-year-old apple head Chihuahua who weighs just under 7 pounds. She does have luxating patellas in her rear legs. They are a grade 2-3. She also has some scaring on her corneas due to untreated ulcers in the past. To the best of our knowledge she is otherwise healthy. Sugar was extremely timid at first and has been progressing well in her foster home. She still has a quite a way to go as she gets frightened easily. Once she gets to know you, she wants nothing more than to love and cuddle! She adores her human foster parents but does not want to share them with the other dogs in the house. She gets along with the other dogs but doesn't seem particularly attached to any of them so she will be fine as an only dog as long as her person is home a lot. She knows how to use the doggie door but still has occasional accidents in the house. We tried putting a leash on Sugar to take her for a walk and she seemed excited but then panicked when she got out on the sidewalk. With a lot of patience she may come around but in the meantime she enjoys exploring the back yard. She is at a healthy weight right now but loves her food and treats so she needs to be monitored to keep her trim. She bounces with excitement at feeding time! We do not recommend children for this dog due to delicateness and how easily she startles. We are looking for someone who is home most of the time. She may be okay going places with you, but it won't happen right away. She will make an ideal pet for a patient, gentle person who wants pure love, 24/7. Her adoption fee is $275.
