About Dashiel

Dashiel aka Dash is Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He turned 5 in May. He has been our family member since he was 13 weeks old. While he loves spending time in his fenced yard he is an inside dog and must remain so. We knows basic commands (though he doesn't always remember that), he's fully housebroken and he loves the comfort of his crate though we always leave the crate door open. He especially loves hanging out on the sofa with his people, and squeaky toys. Dash is timid and can frighten easily. He has lived peacefully with an older small dog and not as peacefully with our very old dog of his same size. Being a Corgi he has a high herding instinct and the older dog doesn't always tolerate this well and twice now over the years they have scrapped. Because of his timidity and fear reaction he needs to be an only dog. Dash has never snapped or even snarled at a human and he has spent a good deal of time around kids. Toddlers and kids who don't respect his need to be approached quietly absolutely terrify him. Because of his timidity and even though he has never been aggressive toward any human much less a child he cannot be rehomed to a family with small children. He is in great health but has had one episode of pancreatitis so it's essential he does not have a high fat diet. He is on a prescription for low fat food and he will need to remain on it for life. Absolutely no human food which is another reason he shouldn't be in a home with young kids. Dash would be an ideal companion for an older person or couple. Once he warms up to you he is literally the best dog! He loves to go for walks, is not a door darter, prefers sofas and beds to floors. We are consolidating households and rehoming him only because we are moving outside of the contiguous 48 states and we can't find a workable way to bring him. It breaks our heart but we have to do what's best for Dashiel and we know the perfect person or family is out there! We will strictly review all applications, references will be required and reviewed thoroughly. Meet and greet will be arranged and if it's a great fit for both you and Dash we can arrange a weekend visit to your home to ensure it's a match made in Corgi/human heaven.
