About Beanie

Rottweiler / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Hello humans out there, my name is Beanie! My goal in life is to have someone to spend lots of time snuggling and smooching with. This year I've spent time in a pound and then a board-and-train program. Now I'm living in a foster home in Methuen, MA which is much better than being lonely or bootcamp (I never enlisted for dog's sake!). However, I really want to be someone's Beanie Baby. Besides being a sweet girl, let me tell you about myself. I'm 5.5-years-old, weigh 63 pounds, spayed, and up-to-date on shots. I haven't had a DNA test, but I guarantee it would reveal purebred 'low-maintenance cuddle bug.' Otherwise I look like a mix of Rottie, pitbull mix, and maybe yellow lab due to my coat color. I take long naps seriously especially in sunny spots. I love people and cuddling with them on the couch. I also enjoy meeting new friends but have a tendency to be happy-jumpy when I do. If you have kids, they should be about age 8-10 so I don't accidently knock down little ones. I'm good at following directions but have yet to stem my enthusiasm for people. I know a few cues: sit, stay, come, and down. For exercise, I know how to use a treadmill, though playing fetch with any and all toys is more fun! Plus I know the 'drop it' cue. Wait until you see my skill for tossing toys in the air and then catching them! Since I love the outside, a fenced-in yard is a perk, but not a requirement. At mealtimes, I sit and wait for the 'ok' to chow down. Food aggression? Not I! Beggar? nyet! Destructive? No way. I have nice house manners whether or not I am alone. But I do hope you like being with me rather than leaving behind. Since I went to special training, I really want to continue the strides I made there. A slip lead helps me remember to be good on leash because I tend to pull. Other areas of training to keep up include taking direction, ignoring outside influences, and staying focused on my person. I always lacked confidence around other dogs and walking past them, but my reactivity toward strange dogs needs additional practice. My rescue says that my adopter will be expected to continue this work with a trainer. The rescue can provide recommendations on trainers in different areas of New England. They are so smart and caring! After living in several environments including a few homes, I need a stable place where I can unpack my bags and throw away the suitcase. I don't like it when there's too much going on. Sorry to say that I cannot live in an apartment or busy area where the likelihood of meeting other dogs is high. I use up all my love for people and have none left for other dogs! Let me be your only fur-kid and I promise to reward you with affection and devotion. I don't require much in life. My advocates say I'm a wonderful girl and a perfect match for a homebody. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with a family who won't toss me aside, but love me and continue to help me be a more confident dog.
