About Adara

Boxer / American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Adara A685822 11 Month Old Boxer Staffordshire Terrier Mix URGENT - NEEDS RESCUE Adara entered the shelter on 10/03/2022 after being found in a home where a homicide had occurred and was believed to be owned by the deceased victim. She was held to locate next of kin or family members able to take her into their care, but no parties stepped forward to assist her. Adara was nervous and extremely head shy on impound, with signs of potential abuse/ suffered trauma in former home. But has progressed with staff and volunteers to be made available for adoption. During a recent meet and greet Adara met with a couple and did very well, once she started to open up and exhibit signs of wanting to play one of the potential adopters interacted with her. They attempted to play guessing game of 'which hand has the treat', and as soon as the individual placed a treat in a hand and made fists, Adara became defensive aggressive and lunged towards the persons hands attempting to bite (no contact was made). After a few moments she appeared to settle down, but once again charged towards the individual attempting to bite his hands with no contact being made due to restrained by staff member conducting the meet and greet. Adara shows signs of abuse / trauma in her former home which was also the scene of a homicide. She will need special needs adoption to avoid any complications in a new home where an unknown trigger may make her become defensive. Adora was originally impounded after a homicide in residence, and no next of kin have been found to take custody of her.
