Introducing JACK STATS: 6 1/2 year old, 11.12 Yorkie mix LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: No kids. Okay as an only or with others. Can resource guard his person so he needs somebody able to manage that. REDUCED FEE DUE TO BEING AN ANGEL DOG RECEIPIENT HIGHLIGHTS: Very loving and friendly. Jack is a sweet 6 1/2 year old, 11.12 pound Yorkie mix who was surrendered to us after his owner died. Jack is friendly and affectionate. He gives kisses, loves to be on a lap, follows his person closely around the house, and gets very attached. So attached in fact, that he resource guards the object of his affection. Whoever adopts Jack will need to be aware of that and manage his behavior appropriately. Remember he lost his owner so he is likely anxious and confused still, but growling, showing his teeth and even trying to nip a person is not acceptable. He can get grumbly and nippy when someone other than his person tries to pick him up or keep him from his chosen one! Jack is a very loyal dog. His foster mom handles this by not allowing him to be on her lap so he does not get too attached to her, or have an opportunity to resource guard. He does still grumble at his foster dad when he comes in the room but will sit with him since mom's lap is unavailable. He is definitely more possessive of a female, and his owner was a woman so that makes sense. At night, he sleeps in the bed. Jack gets along well with other dogs and does enjoy playing with them. He would love to have a dog to play with! But we believe he was an only dog in his prior home, so he should be good either way as long as he gets lots of love and attention from his person. We do not know how he would be with cats, and he should not go to a home with children of any age. Jack is not fully housebroken, he likes to mark. We are working with him on this. A fenced yard would be great for him but he may also be fine without one in the right home. Jack has been to the vet for a wellness check, is neutered, up to date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
