About Henry Hudson

Meeet Henry Hudson. He is approx a 2 years old cattle dog mix. I recently rescued him in Long Beach CA. I stumbled across him outside in a very dirty, unsafe and dangerous environment. He was extremely malnourished with little access to clean water and healthy food. He was covered in feces and flies and desperately needed a bath and a good meal. I visited Henry (who had not been given a name at the time) multiple times, every time returning more committed to getting him out of such a horrible environment. I spent several days negotiating with Henry's negligent owners, who said he wandered into their yard as a stray a month prior. They put him on Next door and looked for the owner but no one claimed him. I too posted him on Nextdoor and sent his info to Animal Services. He was not microchipped and was never claimed. The owners of the house did the best they could but were not willing to take him to the vet and weren't able to properly care for him. It was evident to me that he needed medical care as he was clearly weak, malnourished, and covered in feces and flies with little access to clean water and food and left outside without even a bed. They allowed me to take him for a bath and give him food, and I bought him a soft dog bed from Ross to rest on. He ate like he had never eaten before and it was clear to me I couldn't leave him in this situation. I eventually persuaded them to turn him over to me (for a fee) so I could get him the proper care vet care, food and vaccines needed and to help him find a happy, healthy home. I am fostering Henry full-time while he looks for his forever family.
