Calypso is available to the right home only. I love this dog, and giving her up is incredibly hard. However, I feel that she will be a lot happier in a less chaotic home. Pros: loyal, -responsive, -biddable (once she trusts you) -decent drive, very food motivated. -Muzzle conditioned -Kennel trained, but still a bit of a diva, and will demand bark if left or if she doesn't have a blanket. She will settle with verbal correction. -Rides well in the car. -Loves wearing clothes. -She isn't a counter surfer unless you leave butter out. She will do anything to get butter. - has basics like leash, recall, sit, stay, down but needs refreshers because we haven't worked on them in a while. I don't know how she does with new people in the home because I don't have people over. It's a new place and we don't know anyone yet. In public she is tolerant as long as they ignore her. Cons: reactive. -to new dogs, specifically younger ones, when she's overstimulated/ cold/ tired/ hungry. -To dogs and cats she knows when in those states only sometimes. She's a bit of a diva when she's cold. She absolutely hates being cold and loves wearing clothes. She will be extremely reluctant to go outside If she's cold and she will snap at any animal that gets close to her and has growled and offered to snap at the kids when they tried to move her off the couch ( she's no longer allowed on the furniture or around the kids unless I have eyes on her) -She hates rain but will play in a wading pool. -She resource guards food, bones, and chewies but not toys like balls, rope tugs, stuffed ones, etc. - I *can* (don't anymore) take her to Lowes, etc and she is fine with people unless they try to touch her, then she will bark and act fearful. She's a wonderful dog, when I first got her I was beginning an apprenticeship with a local trainer and had hopes that she could be my demo dog. Early on she showed that she preferred not to meet new dogs/ people, not aggressive, just not interested. Shortly after getting her my life imploded, I had to put the training certification on hold indefinitely, the number of people I'm responsible for(and their pets) has increased significantly and we all moved twice, suffice to say she did not get the level of training/ socialization I expected to give her. She's honestly gotten the bare minimum. Calypso doesn't like loud chaos, she's got decent drive and the kids running and screaming gets her over excited, she has latched on to one child and when things get chaotic, and we are a neurodivergent household and calm, ordered days are simply not possible, she will react negatively to any other cat or dog that gets close to that child or me if the child isn't present. I keep her separate from them unless I can strictly supervise her and things are calm. I am fully aware that this is a training issue, however I simply don't/ won't have the ability to address it sufficiently anytime soon and it's not ok for me to keep her separate so often. She loves her people, and she wants to be a part of the family, as she should be. An ideal home would be someone with good dog knowledge, that can get her further training and make her the center of attention that she craves to be. No kids, or only older very dog savvy kids.
