About Krash

Poodle / Pomeranian
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 9 months old male poodle/Pom/ Chihuahua mix, about 8 pounds. He is not 100% non-shedding. Krash, his parents and his siblings were surrendered to the rescue when they were newborns because of the death of the breeder. We were told they were born on 1/17/2022. But we believe they were born around 1/26-29/2022 due to their developmental landmarks. They were very late on all of their developmental changes including opening their eyes, walking, eating solid food and growth rate. Krash was named for his lack of sight and how he navigates the world. This entire litter, except for one boy (already adopted) have had health challenges. One female puppy had hydrocephalus and was euthanized due to non-stop seizures. His sister, Nike, while she appears fairly normal, has some neurological and vision issues. **Krash is special needs** Krash was born blind but that doesn't stop him from being an outgoing and friendly companion. He has malformed eyeballs and Northwest Animal Eye let us know that he does not need them removed. But he could possibly be prone to eye infections depending on his environment or injury. We suspect he can at least see shadows. Once he gets used to a setting, he is pretty good at maneuvering around things although stairs are challenging for him. While Krash can be an easy dog to have around, he is not a dog that can live completely normal life. He needs constant vigilance, if he is not contained, on your lap, in a kennel or ex-pen. He is quite eager to explore and follow you around, sometimes to his detriment. He will happily sit in your lap ALL.DAY.LONG and but also likes to be active. He does like to be carried around in his baby bjorn which helps when you need to get things done. He can start out shy but warms up quickly to people and wants attention. He isn't leash trained yet, but he is a fast learner. He loves to be outside and stays close, if he can hear your voice. He has started potty training and is good about going potty when he is let out often enough. He really needs a stay-at-home person that can spend significant time with him, as he needs someone to keep an eye him. He is kenneled trained but will whine and move about quite a bit sometimes. He is good with other dogs and would likely prefer a multi dog home because he does like to play. However, because of his blindness, he doesn't act or react like a normal dog. He doesn't see fellow dog warning signs that help him steer clear. Because of this, he can inadvertently elicit strong corrections from other dogs which in turn, can end up hurting him. Any fellow canine room-mates need to be 100% tolerant of his weird mannerisms. He doesn't seem to be bothered by cats as long as they don't bother him. He does fine with older children, but as he is a perpetual toddler himself, his future owner needs to not have too many distractions. He is just a puppy; has been started on training but will need continued house training, leash training, boundary setting, and obedience. He loves to be brushed, which is great because he can develop a matt just looking at you. He will require haircuts and grooming every 4-6 weeks and DAILY brushing. He matts quickly because of the Pom and Poodle mixed hair. He is a fabulous, loving, cuddly guy, who just needs a bit more love and patience than a normal dog He needs a home that will understand his special needs, work with his challenges and address any medical needs that may come up in the future.
