About Nova

Adoption Fee: $100
Basenji / Pit Bull
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

This is Nova! She is very photogenic and is a very happy girl. She is under a year old approx. (I'd say around 7-8 months) so she is still a puppy and has puppy energy. She was originally found as a stray and was adopted by a family member from the local shelter. They hadn't ever owned a dog before and realized she was too much for them to handle, so I offered to foster her until a forever home was found. She is an absolute sweetheart and loves everyone she meets. She is great with kids and hasn't had any problems with our other dogs or cats. She doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. She is active and loves to play; her favorite is tug of war and fetch (she just learned how to bring it back!). She is very smart and learns quickly. She hasn't had any accidents at our home and is house trained. She is approximately 45 pounds but could stand to gain some weight (she eats great but is on the skinner side). Her tongue curls backwards for some reason, so she can't eat dry food very well and has to have it either cooked or with water added so it's more of a soup mixture. She is a very messy eater because of this and does drool quite a bit when food is involved lol! The vet was unsure if her tongue deformity was a birth defect or if it's caused from scar tissue from previous abuse of some kind. Her tongue sticks out to the side pretty much all of the time. She doesn't really bark, it's more of an under the breath grunt or howling kind of noise. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations and has been dewormed as well (all paperwork will go with her). A perfect home is a must! She is the sweetest girl so we just want the best for her. If anything happened where she didn't work out in your home (even years down the line) she must be returned to me. I never want her to end up back at the shelter or as a stray again. She is an indoor dog only and a fenced in yard is a must since she is very active. She would do great in a home with children, but I wouldn't recommend her with babies since she is still a pup and doesn't know her size. Let me know if you have any questions, thanks!
