Sylvia, 5 year old, almost 7 pound, spayed female Chihuahua Mix *** Foster Location: South suburbs of Chicago. Please no applications outside the greater Chicagoland metropolitan area (within roughly 2 hours) *** Looking for a tiny girl who once she gets to know you will want to be your friend, sleep under the covers with you, be your companion while you watch television & to sit quietly in your lap while you are on the computer? Consider Sylvia. Scared & confused after being dumped at animal control, but after an evening in her foster home Sylvia showed just how loving she is. Sylvia is cautious when meeting new people. Once she trusts you she will give you endless kisses and curl up on your lap. Prospective Family: Experienced adopters who know how fragile tiny dogs are. Home Recommendation: A small dog secure FENCED yard is a must as Sylvia loves to roam & survey her domain. Housetrained: Not exactly; Sylvia is potty pad trained. With no insulating undercoat & virtually no hair on her abdomen, even with a coat, when its under 40 degrees, there is no way she stays warm outside. Dog Compatibility: Coexists with large & small dogs who don't get in her face. Gets a bit jealous when other dogs get attention, just moves in to be closest to you. Sylvia is selective with whom she will run & play. Health: Sylvia appears to be in excellent health now. She recently had 20 teeth removed & a dental cleaning. Sylvia has just 12 teeth remaining, so she is quite picky about her hard treats. Those she likes, Sylvia appreciates being broken into small pieces. Leash Manners: Walks decently on a leash, seems to love the exercise & well as being with you. Sylvia would love the one on one attention taking training classes with her best friend. Vaccinated & Microchipped: You bet. Cat compatibility: Likely fine with cats. Can't say for sure, however, as there are no cats in Sylvia's foster home. Up to date on heartworm, flea & tick preventatives: Yes. Sylvia's adoption fee is $350.
