About Simon and Jagg

Exotic / Domestic Cat
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Introducing... Simon and Jagg!! ****They LOVE children!**** Simon and Jagg are a four-year old bonded pair who were dropped off at a shelter because of (quote is from the owner) 'my wife's mental health issues and we're moving overseas.' (???) The shelter called us and because we are a breed-specific rescue, we think they assumed we would only take the Savannah cat (Simon, formerly 'Poe') and didn't mention that his best buddy Jagg (formerly 'Chewy') - a domestic shorthaired tabby cat - had been left behind at the shelter. It was only after we got Simon and were able to review the paperwork, that we learned that he had a best friend who would dearly miss him (and vice-versa). We just couldn't BEAR to separate them so off we went, back to the shelter to collect Jagg. Original owner's statement on their surrender forms: 'Poe and his brother Chewy have been together ever since we rescued them in Mississippi. They have always looked out for one another. Poe has Savannah cat in him so it has been best for him to go outside and roam everyday. He will not do very well if he is inside 24/7. When he does come inside, he likes to eat wet food and then sleep / nap. He will nap on your chest and on a blanket if you'll let him. He also loves to give kisses and nose boops. If he does that to you, you know he loves you. Jagg is a huge lap cat! Will sleep w/you in bed at night. He loves to go outside and lay in the sun or tall grass. He doesn't stray as far from home as his brother does. He also loves watching bird or chipmunk videos on YouTube if you leave the house. He's also very patient with kids. Our daughter would crawl all over him and he's not tried to swat her even once.' If you have been following us for a while, you would understand that we absolutely do not endorse allowing ANY cat to be free-roaming. We always say that if a cat has a taste for the outdoors, we are supportive of cats being outside only if they are on a secure harness / leash, firmly attached to their observant and careful owner. When a cat is surrendered, we have to take everything the owner tells us with a grain of salt. This is exactly why we have so many cats in foster right now. We need time to get to know them. We were truly blessed when Simon and Jagg's loving foster recently joined our team, and gave these two boys a chance to show us who they are and what type of family the would like. Here is what Simon & Jagg's foster has to say about them. Their previous owner stated that if left indoors without access to outside they would become destructive. I have yet to see a destructive bone in their bodies. These two are the SWEETEST bonded pair I have ever witnessed. They have not been outside at my house, nor have they left the room they are currently in (Simon was treated for an upper respiratory infection and of course I didn't want that to spread to my own cats). I've tried the last few days to introduce them to my other kitties to get some more information for potential adopters and I can say that they would do best as the only cats in the home. I have not dog-tested yet. Jagg is a BIG BOY at about 14 lbs, he loves his butt scratches and will start drooling if you give them. He has a very welcoming personality and is always first to greet me when I open the door. He also loves to chase toys and sleep in his cat tower hammock. Simon is a little apprehensive at first but will soon be giving head bumps and the best kitty kisses you'll ever get. He has, in his short time with me, become my best friend. He LOVES catnip and scratching posts. Anything with catnip on it will win his heart. Simon is a tiny kitty, he's about 8 and one-half pounds. He loves his brother fiercely.%A0 These boys deserve all of the love and attention you can give. They LOVE my small children (2- and 3-years-old). These two would do great in a home with children of any age.%A0 They are fed high-quality wet cat food and will sometimes munch on kibble but prefer the good stuff instead.%A0 Both boys have perfect litter box skills! They are neutered and up-to-date on their vaccinations. If you have room in your heart and home for these two silly love bugs, please fill out our adoption application: https://bengalrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/
