Meet Sam, a little cutie of a Lhasa Apso. He is 11 years old and weighs 22 pounds. Sam came into rescue when his previous owner passed away. Sam is an older guy, but he is an easy going dog. Sam gets along well with other dogs and easily meets new people. Sam would like a quiet home without a lot of activity. Like many seniors he doesn't see as well as he once did and he doesn't hear well either. For this reason, Sam's new home should have a fenced in yard to keep him safe. Sam also enjoys a good nap. Occasionally, he remembers his youth and plays with a dog toy. His favorite are stuffy toys that he can bite and shake. Otherwise, he likes a dog bed or a blanket on the couch. He is still agile and has no problem jumping up on the couch for his naps. He also likes to sleep on the bed with his humans at night. He stays at the foot of the bed and gets up when he is ready. Sam has never had an accident at his foster home. He cannot go an entire workday without getting out so he needs someone who is home or can get him out every 4 hours or so. When he goes out, he will do his business and then paw at the door to let you know he is done. Sam enjoys his meals and treats. He will sometimes beg for human food if he smells something good. One of his favorites is popcorn. Sam enjoys a good car ride and is a very good passenger. Sam has allergies that need to be managed. He does well with Cytopoint injections every 6-8 weeks. His allergies affect his skin and his ears. Without continued care for his allergies his skin gets inflamed and so do his ears. Sam also has dry eye, and gets eye drops twice a day. He is very good about this and putting drops in his eyes is very easy. He needs to be groomed every couple of months to keep his coat in good condition. Frequent baths also help keep his skin from flaring up. Sam is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm tested and microchipped. He also recently had a dental and only lost 2 teeth. Bloodwork was also done before his dental and everything was in the normal range.
