We have had Boone since he was 5 weeks old and he just turned one on 7/5. His mother rejected the litter and he's been undersocialized due to COVID which has led to him being anxious and untrusting of strangers. He lives with two children (4 and 8) and 2 cats. Boone will bark at all strangers but we've found that if we can play fetch with a ball when strangers are near, he quits barking and gets distracted by the game. He needs very slow introductions with strangers ignoring him until he makes it clear that he is seeking/initiating attention. Multiple trainers agree that he is not aggressive, just fearful. The ideal home for Boone is a single person or couple without kids and a fully fenced yard with few visitors. He is house, muzzle and crate trained. He attends private training lessons and has learned to trust our trainer pretty quickly, each time making more progress. Boone has a lot of potential and we love him very much but our home is not ideal for his needs.
