Murphy is a 1 year old purebred English Cream Golden Retriever. He is the sweetest pup, he loves to sit right next to his person, and soak up all of the attention. He's a good mix of snuggles and play. He enjoys playing with toys and other dogs, but mostly he is always looking for affection, and will be very loyal to his people. He still has young puppy energy, he will require regular daily exercise. Murphy has been around other dogs and cats since arriving at his foster home. He is great with both! He would prefer to have a similar sized doggie playmate in his new home. However, he has shown some mild resource guarding behaviors towards the dogs in the foster home. He is protective of toys, sticks in the back yard, food bowl, etc. Keeping him separate from other dogs in the home during meal time will be necessary. Also, free choice toys in a household with other dogs would not be a good fit for him. He does not resource guard items from people, only other dogs. He would benefit from training to help him understand more about sharing items with other dogs. He has also been around young children, and he was very gentle with them. He adores people of any size! He knows how to sit, lay down, and come when called. He's also crate trained, and potty trained. When Murphy arrived, he was experiencing a large skin irritation around his neck. He also had an ear infection, and was just a bit itchy in general. After the vet examined him, it is believed these issues were possibly caused by allergies. Murph will require a high quality dog food, and being a Golden Retriever, he will require regular grooming to maintain his coat and overall skin health. If Murphy is left alone in the yard for long periods of time where he can't see his people, he tends to get bored and he digs holes. He also loves to roll around in mud puddles! He seems like he is a water loving dog. He prefers to be with his humans always, if you're looking for the sweetest Velcro dog of all time, this is your guy! Overall he's an ideal family dog, looking for a fresh start.
