About Nilla

Adoption Fee: $200
Siberian Husky mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Nilla! She was rescued in California when a neighbor saw her living in a filthy 5x10 run, outside, 24/7, with no water. After getting a full work-up, all of her vaccinations, and a much needed bath, she was transported to her foster home in Tucson, where she has been thriving. Her foster mom describes her as 'the sweetest toasted marshmallow'. She loves her foster family and will follow them around with her tail wagging looking for affection. She loves snuggles and belly rubs and seeks out attention from any human she meets. She sits for treats and takes food gently. She is good for baths, brushing, and nail trims (with plenty of treats). She has taken well to the spoiled indoor dog life, making herself comfy on her fosters' furniture. She also loves playing with her foster brother, a rowdy young husky. Given her rough start in life, she is still learning how to be a dog (how to play with toys, walk on a leash, even chew on bones), although she has been making lots of progress. She does okay in a crate, although she will get antsy if left alone too long, especially if her foster brother isn't in the same room. Given that she was an outside dog for the first year or more of her life, potty training is still a work in progress. She will sometimes sit by the door to go outside, but she hasn't quite learned how to ask or to wait until someone is home to let her out. With frequent potty breaks, her indoor accidents have been minimal. Nilla is looking for a family to love and spoil her and make her feel like she's part of the pack. We think she would do best in a home with one or more energetic dogs. She does love to play, but she does get tired fairly easy, so she would be happiest in a home with dogs who respect her boundaries (she has not shown any aggression, but will growl when she gets annoyed). She has been on neighborhood walks and a few short hikes, which she seems to really enjoy, though we recommend her adopter take it slow to allow her to build up some fitness before trying anything too strenuous. She is definitely a good husky escape artist. She can jump over doggy gates and climb out of x-pens, so she'll need to be kept in a secure crate or behind closed doors if her adopters don't want her having free reign of their house!
