About Sarah Jane

Pretty Sarah Jane is a cream colored 4 year old, 9 pound Chihuahua mix. You may recognize her as one of the dogs who we brought out of a big hoarding situation we worked last year. She was adopted and recently returned because her owner said she was having housebreaking issues. Sarah Jane is sweet, but can be a skittish little girl when you first meet her. Once she is comfortable, she is so loving and snuggly. She wants to be with her person and loves to be wherever they are. She will lie on a lap, on the couch, and nap in the sunshine (when it's not too hot or cold). She likes to lie on the couch to watch tv with her foster mom, and she will pile up with her fellow foster pup siblings. Sarah Jane gets along with all of the dogs in her foster home, both big and small, but prefers smaller dogs or older, calmer big dogs. If one of the other dogs is assertive with her she will give them a little warning to let them know to back off, but that is as far as that goes. Because she has never been away from other dogs she likely will need a home with at least one other dog in it. We are not sure how she would be with cats but do not believe it would be a problem. Small children will likely scare her, but older kids 12 and up should be fine. Sarah Jane's foster mom says she's like a Barbie doll with her long legs. When she is on her person's lap, she will cross them daintily and look so pretty! She is a very slender pup and needs a home with a secured fenced yard. She is not a big barker other than giving a warning when someone new comes to the home. Sarah Jane came from a home that had way too many dogs living in one small home, and they were not allowed to go out. She never learned that she should potty outside. She needs a home with someone who will work patiently with her until she gets it down. Her foster family has been taking her out regularly and she is doing very well. She likes to go potty with the other dogs and have her foster mom stand right with her with her while she does her business. She has only had 3 accidents so far and is improving daily. At night she will happily sleep next to you in the big bed or curl up with another dog. Sarah Jane has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility.
