Meet Howl! This handsome dude is 2 years old and ready for his forever home in the Virginia Beach area and comes with trainer support to help ensure his new home is his forever home! This high energy boy can be a bit standoffish and independent initially, but with proper introductions (and tons of his favorite treats!) he makes fast friends. He seems to prefer women over men and will require an extra patient, yet firm, male presence if there will be a man in his new home. Due to his history with suspected barrier frustration related aggression, it is recommended no children under 10 be in his new home. This history was directed at adult men in his life, and while he has had some very optimistic interactions with children since undergoing his training program, we feel older children would be a better bet to set his new family up for success! Howl has been taken to many public places during his training and was confident navigating a variety of stores and parks. He showed some curiosity with strange people but was largely neutral. He also now loves car rides! He can be a vigorous, somewhat pushy player, and may do best with another large, vigorous player and has a preference for female dogs. That being said, he's in love with his people and thrives off daily games of frisbee or practicing his obedience skills with his special person. We think Howl would do best with someone who is active and can be a firm, fair leader. He is a willing worker when the expectations are clear, but if left to his own devises (unstimulated with unclear rules), he can be pushy and take over the leadership role in a household. Experience with working style herding breeds and what comes with that would be ideal. He has a history of aggression when poorly managed, but has gone through an intensive training program to gain more understanding, communication, and setting clear rules of engagement to give him his best shot at finding, and keeping, his forever home! Howl is neutered and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. This young boy has tons of potential and will come with follow up lessons for his new family provided they can be done in the Hampton roads area. Please read this bio a few times and understand that he is not a dog for everyone. Howl is much more than a cute face!
