Introducing Jules! She is a 2 year old, 50 pound Standard Poodle who was surrendered to us. Jules is both a majestic beauty and a playful dog, rolled into one! She loves her person and always wants to be close by. Jules is very affectionate and loves to snuggle her head right into your lap. She also loves to jump up on you for some loving, but we are working to stop that behavior. Although her foster mom says it's so sweet to have her come in for a hug! Jules needs some basic training and still has a lot of puppy behaviors, but she is learning quickly. She is so smart! She knows her name, will normally go outside when prompted, has learned the 'down' and 'sit' commands, and is quickly learning how to wait in her place for her meals. And best of all is that Jules is housetrained! After doing her business and checking out the yard or playing, she will let you know when it's time to come in too. Jules is ok when her person is gone from home for short periods of time, but longer than 2 or 3 hours and she gets bored, which can lead to mischief. She is high energy and should have regular stimulation and activity... playing, walks, dog park visits, etc. She needs an active family and another dog in the home similar in size and age, and should have a fenced yard. Jules walks well on a leash and likes car rides so making sure she gets exercise shouldn't be too hard! She has a more dominant personality with other dogs and likes to be front and center. While she gets along with most of the dogs in her foster home, she clashes with a few that have more dominant personalities too. She doesn't pay any attention to the cat in her foster home. She is very confident and doesn't display any shy behavior and likes other people. She has not been around children and due to her bounciness small children aren't a good fit for her. Jules enjoys stuffed animals and other toys, but she's been caught eating them, so she only gets to play with toys when supervised. She has a very healthy appetite and gobbles her food down and then looks for other bowls from which to sneak a bite. Jules will require brushing and regular trips to the groomer to keep her coat free from mats. She sleeps on a large dog bed in the master bedroom where she can see her person and typically sprawls out for the night. Her perfect home is going to have a fenced in yard since so she can get plenty of exercise, a non-dominant dog close to her size, an active household with no small children, and plenty of love and affection! Jules has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal and heartworm tested, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Jules is heartworm positive and has started her treatment which is provided by one of our vets and paid for by the rescue until she tests heartworm negative. She will have a 12 month heartworm prevention shot as part of her treatment. If you think Jules is right for you, please submit an adoption application for review using the link below!
