About JUSTUS

PLEASE READ TO THE END OF THE POST FOR ADOPTION INFORMATION. Oh my goodness, look at this cuteness! Justus is a 3 year old, 9.14 pound Shih Tzu who came to us as an owner surrender. He is very, very sweet and gets along well with almost everyone he meets. He wants to be near his person and loves being petted and will sit close or in your lap. At night he sleeps in the bed with his person. Justus is not a fan of being left alone and has some anxiety when his foster mom leaves the home. He does not like to be away from his person, even if they are just in another room. Justus came from a home with small dogs in it and is good with other dogs. He would be best with a calm furbuddy about his size for companionship. He has been around kids and will be ok with older kids who are familiar with small dogs, but grumbled at a younger child so young ones won't be a good fit for him. He has not been around cats since we have had him. Justus plays with toys a little bit, but seems unfamiliar with the concept. It will be fun to watch him learn to be a playful pup! He has a good appetite, but is not motivated by treats, although he does like a Greenie to chew on. He rides in the car very well, and he seems to enjoy going for rides. Justus is working on his potty training and will go potty outside if he can go out often. He walks well on a leash but a fenced yard would be helpful with the housebreaking. He enjoys being outside and loves to run and roll in the grass. He is a fairly quiet pup but does bark when you leave, so no apartment living for him! Justus has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Applicants should live within a 1-2 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review. This does not obligate you to adopt a dog. *Unfortunately we are unable to personally respond to every application.
