About Hank

Say hello to Hank! Hank is a HUNK! This guy is estimated to be 1.5 years of age! His sweet face tells us he's a lab, but his size suggests he might have a bit of Dane sprinkled in! Hank weighs approximately 80 lbs. He's built tall and lean, and he's the picture of youth and health! Hank did not have a very happy start to life. His foster family found him after he was dumped on a dead-end road near their home. A neighbor not far heard his previous 'owner' calling Hank a 'bad dog'. We aren't sure why these people wanted to treat such a delightful young dog so badly, but Hank is looking to the future! We are following his lead! It only gets better from here! Hank is still a young boy, so he has some puppy mannerisms and energy! He doesn't let his size hold him back. For this reason, he might not be the best fit in a home with very young children. He could easily knock them over without meaning to cause harm. Older children who are stable on their feet would be a great match for Hank! Hank is a diamond in the rough. He is smart, loyal, and friendly! He knows commands such as 'sit' and 'shake', but requires more training. He will benefit from a home that will continue to teach him how to be a gentleman as he grows up! He walks fine on leash, but because he is a bigger boy, a confident handler would be great to keep him in line! Hank is fully potty trained, and takes care of all his business outside! He doesn't have any experience being crated, but his fosters are slowly trying to show him that a crate doesn't have to be scary. (We wonder if he might have had an unpleasant experience before he became an SSLR pup, so we are going nice and easy with crate training)! He would prefer not to be in one. Hank prefers to be the only male dog in the house. He's fine with the ladies, but he wants to be your only hunky boy in the home! Hank doesn't have any experience with felines, so a home without cats is best! Hank loves exploring the outdoors, does well when supervised in a secure fence, and loves to run and play! He would be a great addition to an active home that enjoys the outdoors as much as he does. He would make an excellent running or hiking partner! He is very personable, welcomes new people cheerfully, and is always ready to receive pets and head scratches!
