Adam has been training with professionals since we got him. He's ready for a good home. Time is running out for this sweet boy. Please inquire asap. This sweet boy was moments away from being surrendered to the Carson Animal Shelter when our rescue happened to cross paths with his owner. He was a veteran and a man of courage...but he was breaking from the inside out. It had been a long time since we, as rescuers, felt helplessness and devastation like that. His owner was a soldier, trained to 'never leave a man behind, and yet, here he was, having to walk away from his best friend. Why? Because war always leaves its mark. He fell through the cracks of society, ended up homeless, and used drugs to suffocate the emotional turmoil that war had left him with. His only solace was Adam, who he had found on the streets and taken in as his own. He fed him, kept him warm, and tried to protect him, but soon enough came to realize that Adam needed a home. He needed a family. He needed..more. More than he could give. He found a rehabilitation facility for himself, where he could heal and get back on his feet but had no one to take Adam, which led him to the shelter that day. It physically hurt to listen to his story and after a long heart-rendering conversation, we made the man a promise that we would love his dog, care for him, support him, and give him a second chance.
