Please note that we will ask for a vet reference. Name: Akuma Age: 7 years Breed: Mixed Breed (Boston Terrier/Labrador Retriever/Boxer/Pit Bull Terrier mix), medium #40 Sex: Male, neutered Location: Chesterfield County, VA Vet Information: Akuma is neutered, microchipped, and up to date with his vaccinations. Akuma was heartworm positive about six years ago, and he was treated then and cleared. He has recently had a negative heartworm test. Akuma was diagnosed with macular degeneration, and he has been completely blind for 3 or 4 years. Like most blind dogs, he has adapted well according to his owners. Owner report: Akuma's owners have experienced a crisis and can no longer care for him. He was originally a long term foster from a rescue that one of the family members worked with. That rescue has since closed. Akuma is an outdoor dog with a fenced yard, and he does well outside. He is brought inside during extreme temperatures. He is housebroken but not leash trained. Although Akuma already knows cues for sit and come, he has not had any formal training. However, his owners would be willing to pay for it. They feel that he would not need much training, just basic manners and leash walking. Akuma is an outgoing boy who is good with people of all ages! His owners say that he loves, loves, loves people! However, Akuma does not care for other animals and would do best as an only pet. He's never shown possession with treats, toys, or food and has not shown any aggression towards people. Akuma will fence fight with other dogs if they bark at him, but he has no bite history. Akuma's owners feel that he will adapt well to a new living situation and surroundings despite his blindness, especially if he is getting the attention that he loves to get! They say, 'He loves people but does not get along with other animals. I'm sure he feels vulnerable when in the company of other dogs. He is extremely friendly, and if someone is willing to make him the only dog, I think he would make a good couch companion. We also believe him to be good with kids. He is a good size, right around 40 pounds and housebroken.' Does anyone have room for loving Akuma? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
