About Ainsworth

Chihuahua / Dachshund
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1. Needs a fully fenced yard. 2. Would do best with another resident dog to play with. 11-month-old male Chiweenie, about 10 pounds. Ainsworth is a charming young fellow who has overcome a rough start in life He was found hit by a car in the middle of an intersection in the Tri-Cities. That hit broke his femur and pelvis. He was collected by animal control, hospitalized and then sent to a local foster home. Fast forward six weeks, he was transferred to Smidget. Within hours, he was again hospitalized for a bad ulcer and HGE (acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome), due to being on six weeks of heavy pain meds. He recovered beautifully after a few days in the hospital, and it's been nothing but UP from there! With his new lease on life, he eagerly and gleefully enjoys every moment of the day. He is a medium energy guy who is pretty active. His previous injuries are a thing of the past as far as he is concerned! He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and another energetic dog for him to play with. He loves to wear himself out by playing and then will seek to cuddle up and nap next to his favorite human. He has done fine living with other dogs of different sizes and also living with a 7-year-old boy. Cats are unknown but we think he might try to play with them. Another favorite is eating! It's his favorite part of the day! Being a chiweenie with a compromised pelvis, packing on the pounds is a NO NO, so his adopter will need to be sure to regulate his intake. But it DOES mean that training is easier. He is very treat-motivated and will do his business outside for nummies! If you are looking for a loving, faithful companion with a sweet personality who will look at you with soulful eyes and a wry smile, Ainsworth merits your consideration. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state unless you are within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
