About Silas

Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Silas is an adorable 8 month old 55 lb lab/shepherd mix. He's very sweet and curious. He is a dog that can be a little timid one minute and then he's a total goofball! He likes to be near his foster family but is still learning to trust people. He gets nervous and backs away when someone tries to pet him, and he would need a family who can give him time and patience. Silas is still very engaged with people-- he loves to accept treats from your hand and is excited to play tug-of-war with his foster family. He LOVES his doggie foster siblings and cannot contain his joy when he is around them. He is super playful and bounces around trying to chew on their ears and hind legs. He does not have a mean bone in his body! Silas understands that he gets a treat when he is sitting down, but he hasn't yet learned to listen for the 'sit' command. He is not fully housetrained but has made excellent progress since coming to his foster home, it has been several days now accident free. Silas loves to 'talk' and will make little moans and groans to express himself, or bark if he thinks his people are not feeding him quickly enough. He loves his kennel and will relax there during the day with his toys. Silas is very food motivated and loves to play with his toys, by himself or with his people. He would do best in a home with older children who can respect his boundaries and give him personal space when he needs it. He would love a home with another dog who can help him feel comfortable, preferably a dog who also loves to play! This gorgeous boy will be an amazing addition to a lucky family! Silas is available for adoption but is also in need of a foster home. To Adopt, please complete the adoption application here: https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application To Foster, please complete the foster application here: https://anewchancear.org/foster/fostering-application/ Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.
