About Buddy

Buddy is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever worked with, but he does tend to get himself into some trouble. Buddy loves to play with other dogs, but can get a bit rough at times, and doesn't have all of the social skills to understand when he's pushing another dog too far. We suspect this is because as far as we know, Buddy had never seen, let alone played with another dog until he ended up here with us. Buddy has never injured another dog, and we do not suspect he would, but we do like to air on the side of caution as we do truly love all dogs, and would hate to see anyone get hurt. For that reason, Buddy does require a meet and greet with any dogs that exist in the home prior to adoption. Buddy does also show resource guarding tendencies towards other animals, with both food and toys, so he will require some training in that department as well. Buddy has been working with us on training, and has made some dramatic changes. When he first arrived, he was highly dog reactive, out of fear, and he has improved greatly. Buddy can now be close to another dog, without even engaging with them. He does require a bit of time to warm up to new dogs, as he doesn't understand how to interact with others all of the time, but after a bit of time he is an amazing playmate. Buddy loves to spend his time cuddling up in any lap he can find, counter-surfing/pretending to be a mountain goat, playing with a squeaky pig toy until it no longer squeaks and modeling for photos. If you need a high energy goof ball to take on your next adventure, Buddy might just be the Good Boy for you!
