About Koda

Koda has come a long way since entering the shelter. He was surrendered due to possession aggression towards a smaller dog in the house over the garbage. Initially he showed some possession aggression over a raw hide type of chew towards a volunteer, but he's been learning that no one will ever take anything of high value from him without replacing it with an even higher value item or treat. He LOVES playing with medium sized dogs that are fixed. He doesn't appreciate unfixed male dogs of any size. He plays hard, so he will need a dog friend who can handle that play style. He cannot be in a home with cats. They trigger his prey instinct, and it would only end in heart break for the cat owner. No small children, teenagers would be acceptable as long as they have an understanding of how to handle dogs appropriately. We want to set all of our animals up for success, and with all of wonderful progress Koda has made we want him to have a positive and happy journey for the rest of his life. He's a sweet and fun boy who loves attention and has thrived and enjoyed clicker training. It's like a fun game with great treats for him and builds his confidence. He shows some fear of men but can work through it with men who are not loud or try to dominate him or hover over top of him before he gets to know them. Those things are counter productive with Koda. He loves hikes on our trails around us and going to the river to play. He has been with us a long time and would love to finally find a home with understanding humans who will love him forever.
