About Winnie

Winnie is 2.5 years old and a truly sweet and incredible dog. I am fostering her to get her out of a very abusive situation and she desperately needs a forever home, with land she can roam around on and patient, kind humans to work with her. She is leash-trained, she knows her basic sit and stays, and she is so, so loving. She's been hanging out with me in my office at home during the day and we go for several walks to the park and she seems very happy and content overall. She's gotten used to cars, she is non-reactive to other dogs we pass by, and she is very well-behaved in general. She has not been around other dogs or children while in my care, although her previous owner informed me that she was raised around two toddlers for her first year and a half and she was around other dogs with no issues. She's been to my vet and is up to date on her vaccines, she has been given a clean bill of health other than needing to gain weight back and food allergies, both of which we have been working on since she came to me. Her allergies cause her to have itchy ears but they've already gotten much, much better by switching her food and using Zymox drops. I have been working on implementing a nighttime routine which includes medication from her vet and kennel training to alleviate some severe nighttime anxiety that Winnie has shown while in my care. She has exhibited anxious behavior such as pacing around the house, pawing at the windows and climbing on the kitchen table, which completely ceases in the morning as soon as the light of day comes through the window. Kennel training is necessary to keep her from harming herself, but this does cause additional stress, so a kind and patient family is truly what Winnie needs. I do not have a fenced-in yard or any real capacity to keep her long-term due to these night terrors. Please reach out if you may have a more suitable environment for her to heal and thrive in.
