About Mildred

Mildred is a 13-year-old poodle mix who found herself in a very small animal control in neglected condition. She was able to hitch a ride out and receive a much-needed haircut and dental procedure. Mildred is not aware that she is 13 years old and would prefer to not be reminded. She has an 'I am a big girl and can do it myself' attitude. And although she doesn't mind being carried, she is able to do almost anything without assistance. Mildred would do best in a home with other dogs and prefers to have someone that is home regularly. Her current foster works, so she does great being home without supervision, but she does get lonely and needs at least the company of other dogs. She is great with dogs of all sizes as well as cats. She would prefer a home that is not an apartment since she does bark when she feels like she needs to alert someone or if she is needing help with something. She only barks for these reasons, but an apartment neighbor may not be understanding of that. She is past the puppy stages, but she still has a lot of upbeat energy. She enjoys lounging around and napping in her bed or with her human and friends, but she is also up for a nice walk or car ride to get out of the house and explore. She does ok in a crate but prefers to not be in one if it is not needed. She is well behaved and potty trained as long as she has a good schedule going. She is also very into routine, so going outside of that and getting into trouble is not an interest of hers. She even learned her name within a few days and knows that if she hears the name Mildred, that means her. We are not sure what kind of life she used to live or what led to finding herself in an animal control in neglected condition. But she is such a great girl and full of love which she plans to share with her forever family. She has been spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and up to date with all immunizations.
