About Barrett

Barrett is a Goldendoodle who was adopted out a while ago to a couple in Wyoming who ended up having to move apparently. Despite signing the contract we weren't contacted when they could no longer keep Barrett. Instead they gave him to someone else who ended up neglecting him and there is some some confusion about what happened and who was responsible, but the end result was the same. When we were notified and showed up to get him he was a shell of the dog we adopted out, literally. Later that day he spiked an incredibly high fever 106.4 and started having really violent cluster seizures. The vet couldn't get the seizures stopped for 48 hours and couldn't get his temperature regulated for over a week. He ended up hospitalized for 5 + weeks. During his stay he ended up gaining 15lbs and still needs to gain a lot more. His physical wounds are finally beginning to heal while his emotional wounds will take a bit longer. Barrett is gaining strength every day. He still doesn't like to sit and has to rest every few minutes when on walks or playing. We have weaned his off seizure meds and he takes weight gainer and supplements, special food to help with neurological conditions, vitamins and some other holistic treatments twice daily. Barrett will need a VERY special home. One that has a great deal of love and patience. Barrett no longer appears to know most of the commands he originally left his foster home knowing. He also seems to have an unquenchable need for play, fun and adventures. He seems to have an unending supply of energy so he needs an active home. Barrett is not a couch potato and will do best in a home where he can run and play off his energy. He will need a home that understands that in the past due to neglect he has some neurological issues and we don't know how this will progress as he ages. This being said Barrett is the most amazing and forgiving dog. He has chosen to forgive humanity and instead embrace every day to the fullest! This'll he loves unconditionally and completely, almost to the point where it's too much, he is impossible not to absolutely adore. He has such soulful and hopeful brown eyes, he is waiting for his perfect FURever home to find him, as are we! We know his adopters will be truly amazing people and we cannot wait to meet them!
