About Haskell

Adoption Fee: $200
Bull Terrier mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Haskell is a very sweet Bull Terrier mix boy. He has done well with the dogs in his temp foster home and we have also learned that he is extremely food motivated. While he is deaf he lives a fantastic life and in most cases you cannot even tell! Being deaf he does spook somewhat easily so his temp foster makes sure that he can always see her coming or that she lightly pats his back if she's coming up from behind him. He does magnificently off leash and does know a couple hand signals. He will do best in a home with a child or 2 he absolutely loves kids. Haskell has had a lot of upset in his short life, most with very little to do with him. His original owner who loved him dearly was moving and due to budget constraints thanks to COVID she couldn't keep him. He went to a short term foster in TX while he got vetted and then went to a local foster up here upon arrival. A couple weeks later he was adopted. Haskell pka Gordy was adopted way earlier this year and we truly thought they were his people. We went over dealing with deaf dogs, his temp foster who owns a deaf dog spoke to them at length. We went over the time and patience that would be needed. We were assured that they understood and were willing to do whatever it takes. We truly felt really good about the home. In mid-august we were contacted that he needed to be returned. The adopters ended up refusing to return him to the rescue and instead over 6 weeks later drove hours away from their home and DUMPED HIM AT A SHELTER WHERE HE COULD HAVE BEEN IMMEDIATELY EUTHANIZED, but he is chipped to High Plains PAW & Sybil Prosser. We were contacted by the DDFL Castle Rock location and they were happy to work with us to get him back into our custody. Our hearts immediately broke for him, further, to say we were/are angry is a HUGE understatement. We cannot imagine how confused and scared this sweet boy was. Due to being deaf his other senses are even more important, can you even imagine the fear and despair that he smells. How confused and sad he was alone, wondering where his family was and why he was in that place? We thought we had a foster to run and grab him but unfortunately, they fell victim to Covid-19 and so he went to a super temp foster where he is crated and rotated. He is safe and loved but he deserves and NEEDS a whole lot more. We are looking for a long term foster or adoptive home for this sweet boy. https://petlover.petstablished.com/pets/public/947556?awo=High+Plains+PAW&widget=false
