About Joe

Joe is a black, white, and gray cattle dog. His owner (my cousin) passed away and I am taking care of him until a good home comes along. He used to nip at heels of strangers but I have been working with him and he longer does that. He used to be very protective of my cousin and would try to nudge me away, then he used to do nudge people away from me. Worked with him on that also, and he no longer does that. I have trained him to walk on a leash and we run 2 miles, 5 times a week. He is very loving and needs a bigger outside area than I have. I have introduced him to other dogs only on a leash. I can tell you he will not let anybody onto my property without telling me. He stays outside during the day and spends the nights inside on his bed, only because the rules of where I live do not allow animals to be outside during the night. He is house broken. Joe is a very happy dog and I'm sure he would take very kindly to a new owner, as he did me. When the gate is accidentally left a jar, I will find him lying down at the front door. When I acquired him he was very over weight, I have had him on a diet and with the running we do, he has lost a substantial amount of weight and he could stand to lose a couple more pounds but I'm quite proud of how he's looking! He has never had any interaction with cats nor has lived with another dog. He is a big dog, but very lovable. He has a very soft undercoat and only up by his neck and shoulders does he have the coarser fur. His original adoption papers say he is an Australian Cattle Dog, I only have that to go by. I don't really know if he is purebred.
