About Fred & Pete

GetALong Dachshund Rescue is pleased to introduce Pete and Fred. These two handsome boys are looking for a home to call their own. Fred is 15 pounds and 4 years old and Pete is 12 pounds and 3 years old. Fred is a very loving boy who is confident and happy. Pete is a bit on they shy side, but warms up to people as he gets to know them. Pete and Fred get along well with children over the age of 5 years of age, other dogs and kitties too! These happy boys are looking for a home where they can sleep in the big bed with their people. Fred has had an IVDD episode and he requires a ramp to couches and to a big bed. Fred should never be permitted to jump off and on furniture or use multiple stairs. Fred and Pete are house trained and potty pad trained. Like all dogs, they will need to be confident in their environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Fred and Pete are both very cuddly and love to be on a lap. Fred and Pete enjoy blankets like many dachshunds and like to snuggle and burrow. They would love a home where their person can be home with them most of the time. These happy boys have a fenced yard in their foster home in Georgia and really like to go out and have a good sniff! They would very much like a home with a fenced yard so they can continue to enjoy yard patrols. Like many dachshunds the do enjoy digging so they should be watched when they are outside. Fred and Pete are leash trained but both are quite timid on a leash. Loud noises and sudden movements can make them quite anxious during walks.
