About Nicolas

Nicolas is looking for an extra special home. Originally rescued from a high kill shelter, his former life is unknown. We THINK he had someone that really loved him once - he knows all the basic command and sits up SO nicely when asked. But something happened and he was picked up by AC. He was NOT happy and wasn't able to be handled by shelter staff. Then, through a series of unfortunate incidents, he was crated almost continuously for the next couple of months before finally coming here. He was not a happy camper at first and let us know it. In fact, I thought he'd have to stay. But there's a WONDERFUL LOVING dog in there!!! Just have to be patient and wait for him to find you :) Nicolas NEEDS someone strong - not just physically tho he's a BIG STRONG guy, but his human MUST be mentally strong and KNOW that they're the one in charge. Nicolas NEEDS patience. He needs to trust his human and that's not to be taken lightly. Once he trusts you though he will give you his all - and will be 100% Nicolas is a rugged 75 pounds - he's very stocky tho, he's not very tall. He's utd on shots, chipped and is neutered Nicolas hasn't been off leash tested with other dogs and seems to get over excited at this time - so recommend he be an only dog. No cats, he has a pretty good prey drive.
