About Dapples

Everybody needs a best friend like Dapples. You know, the kind of friend who's always there for you and happy to be with you, who likes all your friends and doesn't demand all your attention, and whose laidback 'Hey, let's chill' attitude works wonders for your mental health. Dapples, at a sleek, long-legged 17 lbs., looks far younger than her estimated 9 years. The only hint of middle age is that she's hard of hearing, but loud noises and certain pitches will get her attention, and she responds to hand signals. When Dapples first came to New Rattitude, her vet checkup revealed a heart murmur, teeth in need of cleaning, and a tumor on her stomach. Fast forward a few months, she's on meds (only $15/month) for the heart murmur, the teeth are sparkling clean (essential for a dog with a murmur), and the tumor, though cancerous, was removed with no evidence of spread and little risk of recurrence. Of course, like every dog, she'll need regular checkups, but her future is bright and she's in great shape! This lady of leisure prefers to sleep late, even eating breakfast in bed occasionally. She's extremely sweet but also an independent gal, who doesn't seek a lot of attention. She will curl up next to you and gently rest her head on your legs. At night, she would prefer to sleep right next to you, but she's also happy in a dog bed. If you have to go out, you can trust her with free rein of the house since she's beautifully house-trained and actually doesn't like to be crated. Upon your return, you'll be welcomed with barks and tail wags and even the occasional 'zoomie' around the house. If you need a walking companion, Dapples walks nicely on a leash, but her absolute favorite thing is to roll in the grass and sun herself on the furniture and porch. A fenced yard is essential for this pretty sun worshipper. If YOU like being outdoors, so much the better. Dapples has even been RV camping. Dapples also really enjoys being around another dog, so in addition to the fenced yard, a canine companion is required. She's not picky, but someone fairly close to her size would be best.
