Woodsy is a playful dog who wants to be around his person/family. He's strong, loves to go on runs, long walks, and play fetch. With training, he would be a great bird dog for someone who likes the outdoors and to hunt. He's house trained, knows sit, lay, shake, high five, and release (for meal time) commands. He learns new commands quickly. We got him from the animal shelter three years ago, he is about 5 years old. He does well with kids, even when they play rough. He's uncomfortable around other dogs, especially males. He needs to be the ONLY dog in his home. His prey drive is VERY strong (he's a bird dog breed), and he will try to get at a cat. With strangers, he's comfortable around women, but with men he's more on guard until he gets to know them. Woodsy still guards his food. We don't know why. He'll bite a dog for eating his food and has before and he may still bite a person's hand for interfering with his feeding, which he has before, (hence teaching him the release command for meal times, which he does very well with).
